Power Conversion System

High-Efficiency Power Conversion for the Renewable Grid

The NOVA2000-213KTL-H0 is the core of ESI’s grid-forming energy storage solution — a high-performance, dual-stage architecture Power Conversion System (PCS) engineered for exceptional efficiency, reliability, and precision grid interaction.

Its high-efficiency design achieves up to 99 % maximum conversion efficiency, maintaining stable, low-harmonic operation under rapidly changing grid conditions. With fast dynamic response, intelligent regulation, and advanced protection, the NOVA2000-213KTL-H0 ensures consistent performance across all grid scenarios — from strong networks to weak or isolated systems.

Key Advantages

High-Efficiency Dual-Stage Architecture

  • Achieves 99 % conversion efficiency and minimal electrical losses.

  • Prevents reverse current flow into the battery and ensures stable active power output during High-Voltage Ride-Through (HVRT) events for faster grid-fault recovery.

Modular and Reliable Design

  • 99 % system availability through modular construction with fewer mission-critical parts.

  • Each PCS independently manages one battery rack (≈ 213 kW of a 5.015 MWh system), isolating faults and maintaining system operation.

  • Faulty modules can be replaced quickly, minimising downtime and maintenance disruption.

Comprehensive Protection and Durability

  • Rated IP66 for complete dust and water ingress protection, enabling outdoor deployment in harsh environments.

  • Features an integrated Intelligent Active Braking Device for safe and controlled shutdown during transient or emergency events.

Grid-Forming Capability

  • Provides stable grid connection across the full Short-Circuit Ratio (SCR) range, with no disconnection or derating.

  • Supports three stability enhancements — voltage, frequency, and phase angle — ensuring smooth and resilient system behaviour.

  • Offers continuous service operation through multiple fault-ride-through modes (LVRT, HVRT, continuous HV/LVRT).

Fast Black-Start and Seamless Transition

  • Enables GW-level black-start capability, restoring grid power within minutes after outages.

  • Supports 0 ms planned and 300 ms unplanned transitions between grid-connected and islanded modes to avoid blackout loss.

Precision Power Regulation and Quality

  • Delivers rapid voltage and frequency regulation in response to transient disturbances.

  • Actively suppresses harmonic voltage distortion (THD < 1 %) for improved feed-in power quality.

  • Includes Power Oscillation Damping (POD) to stabilise low-, medium-, and high-frequency oscillations and enhance grid stability.

Overload and Parallel Operation

  • Supports active and reactive power overload conditions.

  • Enables parallel operation through coordinated and synchronous control, enhancing flexibility and total system capacity.
